The BIG time: Startup of the Year

Earlier today the Business Intelligence Group announced its Startup of the Year Award for 2016 and selected MapD as a winner in that category. Needless to say we are delighted to grab another major trophy this year and we will proudly display it alongside our Gartner Cool Vendors Award, our Fast Company Innovation by Design Award and our CRN 10 Coolest Big Data Startups Award.

Over the years, BIG has picked some pretty lofty names from the pool of applicants for their prestigious award categories, including LiveOps, Citrix, Bill.com, Marketo, Domo, 3M and UnitedHealthcare. To join such an elite group of companies speaks volumes about our approach to GPU databases and visual analytics.

Russ Fordyce, the Managing Director of the Business Intelligence Group had this to say about us:

“Differentiation is a common theme among many of our winners, and MapD’s approach to using GPUs for visual analytics certainly fits that description. Enterprises are constantly seeking ways to be more responsive and agile for their customers and MapD provides significant capabilities in that regard. Like all of the winning companies - they have distinguished themselves from their competitive set and we are pleased to recognize them for this accomplishment.”

It is only Wednesday of a pretty big week for us. We announced availability of our AMI on the powerful new Amazon GPU instances yesterday - and have another announcement for tomorrow on some exciting new benchmarks.

Todd had the following to say about the recognition:

“This award by the Business Intelligence Group represents a significant milestone for our pioneering work with GPU databases and visualization. The data challenges facing organizations today demand that they revisit their analytical approach and what compute platform they choose. MapD is at the forefront of the GPU revolution and we see this award as further validation of our team’s tireless efforts to build the world’s fastest data exploration platform.”

If you want to find out more on what is powering this success, schedule a demo with us to see firsthand what speed and scale have to offer.

We promise it will blow you away.
